Let’s Talk Red: Turning Whispers into Conversations
“Miss, can boys stay in this session too?”
That’s how one of our Red Talk sessions began.
A simple question, but one that carried years of hesitation, curiosity, and cultural silence.
And we said, “Of course they can. They should.”
That’s what The Red Talk by Pakhi is built for: a space where everyone is welcome to learn, ask, and talk about periods without fear, shame, or awkwardness.
Because menstruation isn’t a woman’s issue, it’s a human reality.
What is The Red Talk?
The Red Talk is Pakhi’s flagship conversation series on menstrual education, designed to make period awareness open, interactive, and stigma-free.
We take this initiative to schools, colleges, and communities, creating a space where learning feels like a dialogue, not a lecture.
And honestly? It’s not your usual “health class” talk.
It’s laughter, storytelling, myth-busting, and sometimes, silent moments that say more than words ever could.
Inside The Red Talk: What Really Happens
Let’s take you behind the scenes.
1. Let’s Talk Red, The Icebreaker
We begin with laughter and light. Through fun icebreakers and quick games, we set a tone that’s friendly, relatable, and stigma-free. No lectures — just comfort.
2. Myth vs. Truth
Did you know that only 36% of India’s menstruating women have access to hygienic menstrual products?
Or that over 70% of girls learn about periods only after they get their first one?
These aren’t just numbers, they’re why we do this.
Through polls and myth-busting games, we help participants unlearn common misconceptions, from “You can’t enter a temple” to “You shouldn’t play sports.”
3. Ask Me Anything
One of our favorite parts.
A candid Q&A session with menstrual health experts, where every question is valid and every doubt deserves a clear, compassionate answer.
4. The Real Talk
This is where stories unfold.
A heartfelt sharing circle. Here, students speak, listen, and realize, we’ve all been there. From first-period stories to emotional experiences, it’s pure empathy in action.
5. Change Corner
Sustainability is part of every conversation.
We talk about bamboo-fiber pads, menstrual cups, and what “eco-friendly periods” actually mean.
Students get hands-on with real products, learning how small choices can create a big impact.
6. The Pakhi Promise
We end every session with reflection, participants write one promise on a sticky note:
“I will never call it the problem days again.”
“I’ll talk to my brother about periods.”
“I’ll make sure my friends never feel embarrassed.”
Each note, small as it is, becomes a seed of change.
Why We Do This
In India, nearly 23 million girls drop out of school every year due to lack of menstrual awareness and hygiene facilities.
Because “hush-hush” conversations don’t just limit knowledge, they limit confidence.
At Pakhi, we’ve always believed that it’s not just about pads, it’s about perspective.
Our goal is to replace silence with science, shame with understanding, and awkwardness with empathy.
We blend learning with listening, creating safe, inclusive spaces where boys, girls, and teachers learn together that menstruation is normal, natural, and necessary.
The Movement We’re Building
We’ve seen it, the change, the spark.
A room that started in silence ends in laughter.
A boy who didn’t know what a period was, explains it confidently to his friend after the session.
A girl who once whispered “chums” now says “periods” without flinching.
That’s The Red Talk.
Not just a session, a revolution in small, meaningful steps.
Because when we talk red,
we don’t just talk about periods,
we talk about progress.
